- Global Vet Link
EIA Testing using Global Vet Link - College Station Lab only.
TVMDL is now accepting specimens for Equine Infectious Anemia testing using an electronic submission process provided by Global Vet Link. If you want to open an account or need information on the submission process you can view their web site at www.globalvetlink.com or call them at 515-296-0860.
Presently only the College Station Laboratory is able to provide results through Global Vet Link. By default TVMDL will run the ELISA test protocol for all routine EIA testing. For TVMDL the ELISA test provides you with the least cost and the quickest "turn around" for your testing results.
If you require the AGID test you must select the AGID test in the Global Vet Link submission process and you must also include a separate TVMDL standard submission form stating you require the AGID tests for export or other special purpose. If you have questions you may call toll free 888-646-5623.
- EBA discontinued
SECOND AND FINAL NOTICE: Avian Elementary Body Agglutination (EBA)
test for Psittacosis to be DISCONTINUED:
Due to the unavailability of critical reagents, the Elementary Body Agglutination (EBA) test for Avian Psittacosis antibody will be discontinued, effective May 23, 2008. We regret any inconvenience this may cause our clients, but we will not be able to provide the test past that date. Studies have shown good correlation between the PCR test for Psittacosis and the EBA test, and we suggest this test as one alternative method of detection of Avian Psittacosis. Additionally, the Chlamydia compliment fixation (CF) test is also available which can be run on serum and is recommended as an alternative serologic test. A throat swab shipped either dry, or in a small volume of saline, is the preferred sample for PCR detection of Psittacosis.
- IgG T Reagents
Shortage of IgG (T) reagents:
We have been advised that reagents for the quantification of Equine IgG(T) levels will not be available for an indefinite period of time. Testing is currently available at a cost of $30.00 through VMRD Inc. in Pullman, WA. Phone 509-334-5815. Please forward testing request directly to VMRD until reagents are again available.
- Spring Break 08
Spring Break, March 13th and 14th:
This Thursday and Friday, March 13th and 14th are TVMDL holidays as defined by the Texas A&M System. We will have a reduced staff level and some tests may be delayed during this time period. If you have urgent laboratory testing planned for this time period, please call the Laboratory prior to shipping specimens so we can assist you to coodinate your testing needs.
